Who Is A Volunteer Firefighter?

 

Volunteer firefighters are your neighbors. Mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, sisters and brothers, and uncles and aunts. Landscapers, students,pilots, plumbers, CEOs, doctors, attorneys, engineers, contractors, paramedics, career firefighters, dog trainers, homemakers, accountants, electricians, IT specialists, administrators, bankers, graphic designers,sales representatives, teachers, business owners, and more ..

 

We are always looking for new member's! Please stop by the Canaan firehouse on any Tuesday night to see what we do and you might be able to help

 

 

 

 

 

  When You See a Blue Light, Pull to the Right. Volunteer Firefighters are required to display a flashing blue light to warn motorists while responding to emergencies in their personal vehicles. Although Connecticut Motor Vehicle Law does not require motorists to pull to over to the right, be courteous and let them pass.

On Friday December 7, 2018 at the annual dinner of the Canaan Fire Company they saluted Past Chief Rick Weaver for completing 50 years of active membership. At the dinner Rick accepted his plaque for the achievement and a Citation from the Conn.
During 2017, Fire Fighter & Fire Company Secretary Maribeth Marchi became Canaan's first lady firefighter with 25 years of active service. Her name has now been added to the CFC's 25-year-plaque where she joins her father, Rick Weaver, and her grandfather, the late Archie Weaver.
